About the sound of Guitar

Tum jo hue mere humsafar Guitar chords

This entry is part 38 of 41 in the series Guitar

The golden era of black and white songs 🙏🏼. This song, an epitome of simplicity and melody of an era with Geeta Dutt’s brilliance and of O.P. Nayyar’ music riding the waves. One of my favourite songs.

This entry is part 33 of 41 in the series Guitar

This melody sung by Ronkini Gupta is an absolute gem. Entire song is just a single guitar and vocals. And Ronkini’s classical stance adds magic.

Its in the key of B major, Add a capo on 4th fret to sound close to the original.

Guitar Chords: Ala Barfi

This entry is part 32 of 41 in the series Guitar

This earthly song from Barfi! movie strikes the chord with the seventies and early eighties. Those who have heard the Murphy radio with their grand parents would relate much better. I prefer the Swanand Kirkire rendition with vocals coming straight through the heart.

Strumming Pattern

There are around 3 basic strumming patterns in this song. One for the normal stanzas and other two for stanza ending and chorus.

Strumming Pattern

Down Down Up … Up

In “chalaa jaaye sapno ke aage kaha”, the C chord has to be struck just once – down stroke, Same for “yu chali jaaye akele kaha”. Alternatively you can ignore strumming after G chord and just strum F chord once followed by last down stroke of C chord giving the “talk” feel.

Guitar Chords – O Re Chiraiya – Satyamev Jayte show

This entry is part 30 of 41 in the series Guitar

At the end of the touching episode on female foeticide, Swanand Kirkire with his self composed song O re Chiraiya sung a heart melting song with Ram Sampath.

Key – G

Those who want a cleaner chord, could use C instead of C9 – C9 is just easier to play, but Cmajor sounds better.
