Guitar Tutorial

This entry is part 1 of 32 in the series Guitar

This is my guitar class diary, you may consider it to be as your tutorial, guide or whatever, my purpose to publish this one is to keep the contents of my guitar class on the web.
thats it.

I start from my first class where I knew only 1 thing about guitar and that is “6 string” guitar or something… :) quite an information to begin with.

Lets start now…

  1. Hi ,

Thanks for providing such a useful infos about guitar learning in your web site. i wanted to learn guitar i dont have any knowledge about music in details, i sing quite well.. kow i wanted to add a new habit of guiter playing.

Is it really important to know music to play guitar?

please revert back to my email ID.

    thanks

    Prabu

  2. Yes it is important to know music, what are notes how are chords formed. When u say u want to learn playing guitar while singing, its chord strumming that you want to do.

U need to understand which chords have to be used what is the key scale of the song. Eg “papa kehte hain”, chords in scale of C are played, C – Am – F – G

  3. Hey!!! Great site!!!

    Loved ur guitar blogs…

i am also a kinnda a beginner( only been six months) but do u think i could, u know add to our guitaring knowledge by sharing stuff that is important and no one really think about teaching those….

for eg. joe satriani( one of my personal favs…) recommends an finger jumble exercise to every one( from beginner to advanced) that practising cromatic scales are absolutely important for anyone to play the guitar and for it to sound good…

lemme know if u need help on this buddy… u got my back

  4. Hey Rick,

Great to know that somebody IS ACTUALLY reading what I’ve posted! Its been more than 3 yrs to this date since I’ve stopped learning guitar, most of what I’ve posted is from my guitar diary that I had when I used to learn @ Ravi Iyer in Kandivali.

If you feel that I should post some extra content, please free to pass it on, I shall publish it by ur name.

  5. Rutu,
Hi, saw in your comments that you went to ravi iyer’s, i went too but only for a month. I do rhythm. Saw the ‘Basic’ section here. Nice explanation you got for major scales. Here’s a site which has a comprehensive collection of guitar resources – everything from basics to highly advance guitar techniques – http://www.justinguitar.com/ – and its totally free. I learnt rhythm guitar from this site. I still consider myself a beginner and am basically self-taught. Maybe someday we can jam after work..
